DERMATOSURGERY

Dermatosurgery means surgery of the damaged skin, which includes clinic based processing done using local anesthesia. Prior to the treatment an examination is performed to evaluate the extent of the skin damage that is to be cured or treated. A full examination is also performed to check the health of the patient and to be given full information and instructions. Conditions like Cutaneous Horn, Cysts, Verrucas, Nevus, Vitiligo, Skin Resurfacing and Scar Correction can be treated by this treatment. At S2 Skin Care, we provide treatments for these conditions by using appropriate lasers or surgeries to remove and regenerate the resultant soft tissue damages.

ACNE

Mole Surgery

Mole commonly termed as birth mark is referred to as ‘NEVUS or NEVI’ in medical language. Moles are benign growths on the skin that are either brown or black in colour. They appear either at birth or during puberty. Treatment is issued for those who seek for better cosmetic appearance, for moles causing mechanical problems and fear of malignant changes.

It is a simple procedure where the mole is excised using a scalpel or a punch and the resulting wound is closed by thin sutures. Small moles are removed in a single session with minimal/ no scar while larger moles require serial excision with minimal scar.

Some moles can be seen spreading over a large area of skin like Nevus of Ota / Ito, Bathing trunk nevus, Beckers’s nevus require combination of laser therapies.

Cysts (sebaceous cyst, trichilemmal cyst, epidermoid cyst)

These are formed by the collection of dead skin/ sebum/ hair under the skin. They are removed completely along with the wall that encloses them, so that there will not be any recurrence.

Lipomas

Lipomas are localised collection of fats cells which can occur anywhere in the body. They are removed for cosmetic reasons and when they cause pain. These can be removed by small incision surgery with good cosmetic outcome.

Corns and warts

Corns and warts commonly seen over on the palms and soles, can be removed by various methods like electrosurgery, cryotherapy or excision and closure depending on the size and location.

Skin tags

Skin tags and other benign skin growths over the face, neck and all other parts of the body can also be removed safely with aesthetically pleasing results.

Vitiligo Surgeries

Vitiligo is a social disease and despite the many advances in medical treatment, repigmentation can be achieved in only 60-70% of patients. Certain areas like limbs, bony and non-hairy areas, lesions with white hairs do not respond adequately.

Most patients with extensive lesions, have resistant residual lesions, which can be better targeted by surgeries.

Surgical options include minipunch grafts and Suction blister. Based on Size, site and pattern of lesion and Equipment available, the surgical technique is chosen by your Dermatosurgeon. The main prerequisite for surgery is, the diseases must not be spreading from last one year.

The principle of surgery is that, the white patch lacks pigment producing cells called melanocytes. In surgery we are transferring these cells from your normal skin to white patch so that normal pigmentation comes back.In Punch grafting small pieces of normal skin are taken from the thigh or behind the ear and grafted on to the white patch. In Suction blister grafting a thin layer of skin is harvested from the thigh by raising a blister and grafted on to the white patch.Epidermal cell suspension is the method used to treat large areas of white patches, where pigment cells are directly applied on to the recipient area. The pigmentation starts at 3 weeks and completed by 3 to 6 months. Surgery helps to regaincolour of skin but not the cure.
